Olwyn. ‘Who am I? A mirror in your hand’ - Rumi.

This is a painting of my daughter, Olwyn, when she was 12. I wanted to capture her strength, her innocence or purity, and the knowing that there is so much yet for her to experience that has yet to impact her and become part of who she is and how she shows up in the world.

From a really young age she carried herself with such grace and deep self awareness, sensitive and quietly observant, and now, she moves away from me, and steps into the world of others, unknowns, and she has so much yet to learn…

I’m left wondering, have I done enough, is she prepared enough, will she still carry this same quiet confidence and openess in the years to come…will she remember who she is, will she be able to stay true to who she is.

For now this is how I think of her, tender, strong, aware, patient, alive with all that still has to blossom.

Thank you for being in my life.
